When we attended the medical conference at Daeyang Luke hospital, we met some very interesting Korean doctors. They have a real vision for Malawi's future as far as medicine is concerned. They likened Malawi of today to South Korean of the 1950s and felt that Malawi will move ahead in the medical fields in the next 30-40 years. We got to have some interesting discussions with Dr. Park (nephrologist) who wants to start a

dialysis unit; Dr. Cho, who is one of the leading South Korean transplant surgeons, and Dr. Kim (pictured here with Jose and me). Dr. Kim has all those initials after his name - MD, MA, MPH and is at Columbia university working on some other degree... he is one of those guys who is so smart he makes your brain hurt! And as you can tell, he is a fun guy, too!
