Sunday - Day of Rest

AAhhh... Sunday, another beautiful day in Malawi.... We started the day by picking up Megan and Whitney and going to the Flood church. What a great sermon from Sean!! He spoke on trusting the Lord with our lives, our families / relationships and our resources. What a great lesson for those of us here in Malawi, especially the two new teachers, Megan and Whitney, who have stepped out in their faith in the Lord to serve here for a year! In the afternoon we went to a new grocery store in town, Chipiku, to pick up some items for the Crisis Nursery (babies and workers). What an interesting store - it was our first time there. We found American style breakfast cereal and gallon containers of black olives! (Jose says 'YUK' to the black olives!) When we pulled up to the store, there was an ambulance out front... as per my earlier posts, you must know there was no emergency there, just doing some shopping!! The other picture is the back of the Daeyang Luke ambulance. Jose finally located it long enough to get a photo. Please note there are only benches in the back - and the driver is the only hospital personnel on the ambulance - the folks in the back are two 'critical' patients being transported to the government hospital (Kamuzu Central) - only because Daeyang Luke does not have it's ICU staffed and open yet - but hopefully soon, and then these people could have stayed there. The patients look fine in the photo (actually one is a family member holding a child) but Jose said they had pretty severe medical problems (severe burn to one, the other with a lung mass and difficulty breathing - note no oxygen tank in the ambulance). Tomorrow I am back at the clinic and Jose is back at Daeyang Luke, bright and early!
