On our trip to the lake today we saw the Masekos. Peter (as per the previous post) is the local Baptist minister and also a clinical officer at the Salima district hospital. (For those who are not sure, a clinical officer has essentially the equivalent training of a physician assistant in the USA). He lives with his wife, Emma, and a cousin of some sort, Agnes (age 17), whose parents are deceased and Peter was the only nearest relative. The Masekos have 8 children, the youngest (Marie) is the only one still at home, and she is actually away at boarding school. Last March, an infant was abandoned and subsequently has been adopted by Peter and Emma. The story is a long one, but shows the hand of God protecting this child until she was discovered. Her name is Alpha. She is growing well and bringing much love and laughter to the household. The picture is of me holding little Alpha. We had a wonderful but short visit with the family. We will be returning when we can spend longer!!
